ARTIST: June Sekiguchi
STOREFRONT LOCATION: Pine St
TITLE:  Ancestral Inheritance of an Unknown Artist

ARTIST STATEMENT: I was gifted several large hand painted sumi-e (ink paintings) scrolls of an unknown artist by Paul Kikuchi and the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center. Many of them measured 15 feet long x 40 inches wide. I was waiting for the right project to use these special artifacts, and in a synergy of factors, the Shunpike storefront opportunity was perfect. I layered red paper cut in a bone pattern to reference the ancestral lineage of the scrolls and my heritage.
