Wealthier Americans flock to Puerto Rico as a tax haven and Caribbean paradise. Meanwhile, the mass destruction of Hurricane María and economic instability has caused forced displacement and worsening living conditions for its Native inhabitants.

I’m a Puerto Rican artist who uses photo and digital art to address social issues surrounding the ongoing colonization of my homeland. A year after Hurricane María, I was displaced to Seattle and was shocked by how little Americans know about the exploitative relationship their Country has with mine. This inspired me to start conversations on the effects of disaster capitalism and colonialism in Puerto Rico.

I completed a BFA at the School of Fine Arts, PR and my work’s been exhibited in places such as Museo las Américas, Photographic Center Northwest, and Galerie Rivoli 59. I was also invited to give talks at Allied Media Conference and MIT Game Lab to name a few. This year I was accepted into the Artist Residency at MASS MoCA to finish my ongoing project Chronicles of a Catastrophic Future.
