Fundraising Events: do you have questions? With Alex Martin – October 28, 5-6 PM

This session is designed as an ‘Ask Me Anything’ style session with Alex Martin, and will be guided by your curiosity (no questions too big or too small). We’ll use YOUR questions in the session, but just to prime the pump, here are some common questions from other nonprofit event fundraisers: What are some tried and true tactics for selling tickets, securing sponsors, making this event unique and reflective of our community, running a professional event check-in and cashiering, and making that all-important ‘ASK’ for donations? How should our board members be involved? How can we align this event with Community-Centric Fundraising practices? How can we make this event happen without experiencing volunteer and staff burnout? How can we set a realistic budget, and how much money should we spend in order to raise a dollar? Do we need a permit to run a raffle or sell bottles of wine?

Alex Martin (she/her), has been planning events for Seattle-area nonprofits for 25 years and brings lessons learned from working on over 1,000 fundraising events. Alex has a background in dance, choreography and independent performance art production. She now leads the team at Synchronicity Events, providing strategy, design, planning and production for over 40 clients each year. Alex finds delight in helping her clients achieve their goals while protecting our environment, designing unique and authentic community-informed celebrations, and eliminating toxic work culture and stress around events.
