ARTIST: Elisa Law
LOCATION: Mercer St. (West)
TITLE: Annihilation

“Inspired by the sinister flora of Jeff VanderMeer’s Annihilation, these would-be landfill plastic flowers overwhelm the viewer with alien lushness. I like creating that moment of surprise when you find yourself dropped into the sudden acid trip of this home decor gone wrong installation. Annihilation describes the ‘make beauty / destroy beauty’ paradox that is the rotating door of pollution seasonal throw-away consumer decor creates and it reminds us that nature’s retribution will be both brutal and beautiful.”
