The Cebreazy Paints Gallery, located in Seattle’s Pioneer Square, is a dedicated art space focused on showcasing and empowering LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC artists. The gallery’s mission extends beyond traditional exhibitions to create a dynamic “third space” that fosters cultural engagement and community-building. Through a diverse range of programming, including locally produced film screenings, performance art, artist workshops, and interactive “Co-Create” events, the gallery serves as a hub for cultural exchange and creative development.

Pioneer Square, a historic hub for Seattle’s LGBTQIA+ community, lacks a dedicated venue for Queer and BIPOC artists. The Cebreazy Paints Gallery addresses this critical need by establishing a permanent and visible space for these communities. Notably, the gallery is housed in the former 611 Tavern, a historic landmark and one of Seattle’s first gay-friendly establishments. This location not only restores a significant piece of Queer history to the neighborhood but also makes art and cultural expression accessible to a broad audience, given its proximity to major public transit routes.

Community feedback underscores the importance of this dedicated space. LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC artists have expressed a desire for a venue that consistently champions their work beyond temporary exhibits or seasonal celebrations. This gallery provides a stable platform for their cultural narratives, empowering artists and enriching the broader community by celebrating diverse perspectives.
