Overview:

A large-scale community festival activation supported by ACES. AfroSPK, to lead a live interactive art process to create a mural that celebrates the diversity of 98118 that we can use as the backdrop of our stage for the next year. 

About the Artist:

AfroSPK is an African-American DC born visual artist. A graduate of Evergreen State College, he moved to Seattle to visit his unique perspective upon the city’s consciousness. Afro is also a photojournalist and community leader and has studied and learned about the native community in his undergraduate program “ Bella Bella or Bust”. During his time at The Evergreen State college he learned how to analyze the images of American Indian people in cinema and how they have influenced the understanding/misunderstanding of their culture and history. 

His work can be seen in murals across the city and in schools, private collections, and currently on exhibit at Moon Ink Tattoos.
