Crush/Repeat is a community art practice where participants of all ages and experience levels choose a small creative project to repeat or build on every day for the month of March. Shortly thereafter, a curated showcase is held for the artists to share their work with each other and a public audience. This consists of an opening party with performances and artist talks in addition to ongoing open gallery hours over multiple weeks. Crush/repeat artists and the public are invited to make art with us during any open hours to further activate the gallery as well as to provide space to those who might not otherwise have access to studio space. The transformative power of this project lies in the simple act of connecting multiple bodies of small works to illustrate the potential of collective action. We intentionally time this project for the month in which winter ends and spring begins as a tool for awakening the creative spirit and sparking community engagement after a traditional time of quiet and stillness.
